12/01/04 - Dreaming Dreams

When I work, I work hard.
When I play, I play hard.
When I sit, I fall asleep.

Usually, when I lay my head on the pillow at night, I am asleep in minutes. I don’t usually dream about anything of significance. Usually, it’s just the weird “almost-asleep-but-not-really” flushing of the mind stuff. The other night was different. I don’t want to sound like Dr. Martin Luther King, but I had a dream, a real dream, one that stuck with me.

I saw something so important, I hope it changes my life.

In this dream, I saw a lot of people walking all around. I mean a LOT of people. They were walking every which direction like people jammed in a crowded mall during the Christmas season. I somehow knew these were all the people in the world. Don’t ask me how I knew. I just knew. Many of them were struggling. They seemed to be fighting and wrestling to get ahead like something was standing in their way. Then I heard a voice say, “Walk. Walk anywhere you’d like. Walk.” So I did. I started off walking in one direction and kept going for a while. Then, I decided to go a different direction, turned and walked that way for a while. I chose yet another direction and went that way. The strange thing is that I didn’t bump into one single person even though I was in a dense crowd. Nothing was ever in my way. I didn’t even have to wait to let anyone pass. Then I heard a voice saying, “This is faith.” …and I understood.

The people around me were struggling against nothing at all. Any perceived obstacle was less than a vapor, easily passed through. There were really no obstacles at all even though they thought there were.

Faith is not believing something so strongly that we can overcome any obstacle in our path. Faith is the ability to see our path without obstacles. They don’t exist. Nothing is in our way. Faith is not psyching ourselves into believing obstacles aren’t there. They don’t exist!

when I awoke, I asked the Lord to help me remember what I saw in my dream. I am already starting to see things differently. I hope you do too.

Joel 2:28 (KJV)
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all
flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall
dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
