Stepping Stones

I submitted some edits to my last story yesterday and started the new one last night. I got the first chapter drafted. Almost 3,000 words later and I was ready for bed.

Did you ever have something in your head, heart, soul or gizzard that you just had to get out? Like stepping stones, you can’t skip one and jump to another. You have to take them one step at a time. Almost everything is like that. Life’s lessons, love, a career, baking a cake or building a house.

Take your time and do things in order. You’ll accomplish more. If I’d tried to skip the edits and move to the next story, the first would never get done.

Think about it.

Like it matters

I had a conversation with another one who works in the claims department at work tonight. He works everynight until after I leave at 8pm. I ask him why he did this and he said it was because there was so much to get done. He said, “You’ll do it too when you come aboard.” I explained that probably wouldn’t happen because even though there was so much to do, I had different priorities. I explained how so little that we do matters when it is done for vain reasons. He understood, but can’t stop and said, “That’s who I am.”

It just doesn’t matter how much there is to do in the secular world when your focus is on the Lord. It will always suck you in and down. I drove home thinking how small the job situation really is in the overal scheme of life. When I got home, I told my wife it is apparent I have outgrown the the shallow priorities of the secular job market. She agrees.

Work, work, what?

They decided to migrate me to the insurance claims side of the business today. It appears that area is growing and given my background, it makes sense to move me there. This might take a few weeks to complete. No clue why.

From Logan’s Blog

This is from Logan’s blog.

Well, I’m training! Thanks for all your prayers. I picked up tuesday. So far this week, I’ve done some hiking, I threw some grenades, and I shot a M240G medium machine gun, 7.62mm rounds, fully automatic. Get some! It’s a beast. Tomorrow I get to shoot off the M203. It’s a grenade launcher that attaches to the handguards of our rifles. Exciting stuff. I graduate August 9th I believe. It’s all going well. It kinda sucks, but it’s fun at times, too.

Oh, and pray for me. I’m trying to quit smoking for good now. I swore I’d quit once I started training (I was an idiot and started after boot camp). It’s tough as HECK! But seeing as we can only smoke on sundays, it should make it a bit easier. Still sucks though.

I miss you all a ton.
